Insurance Information and Online Registration
To provide you with the best possible care and ensure a smooth appointment process, we ask that you provide your insurance information at the time of booking your appointment. This is an important step to help us verify your coverage and prepare for your visit.
Why We Need Insurance Information in Advance
Insurance verification is a complex and time-consuming process that requires careful handling by our team. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to verify any insurance information provided at the time of your appointment. By sharing your insurance details when you schedule your visit, you help us avoid delays and ensure that we can assist you efficiently.
The Importance of Completing Online Registration
We also ask that you complete your online registration before your appointment. This includes submitting your driver’s license, insurance information, and filling out all medical history and present illness details. By completing these tasks in advance, you help us streamline your visit and focus on what matters most—your time with the doctor.
How Online Registration Benefits You
-
Saves Time: Completing your registration from home means you spend less time on paperwork at the office. This allows us to dedicate more time to your eye care and less time on administrative tasks.
-
Improves Your Experience: By entering your information in advance, we can review your medical history and address any concerns before you arrive, making your appointment more efficient and effective.
-
Ensures Thorough Care: With your information ready, we can focus on providing you with the best possible care rather than spending time on paperwork.

Routine vs Medical
At Eye Associates of Winter Park, we provide a thorough, comprehensive eye exam for all our patients. Our approach is to ensure that every patient receives the same high level of care, regardless of whether you are using a vision discount plan or medical insurance.
Insurance companies usually categorize visits to your eye doctor as either “routine” or “medical.” But understanding the difference between the two can get a little confusing. Most people who schedule eye exams do so for one of two reasons: It’s time for a routine exam, or you require a medical exam for a specific reason. While both medical and routine eye exams cover many of the same bases, doctors perform them for different reasons.
Classifying a routine eye exam as opposed to a medical eye exam is also important to your insurance company. The type of coverage for each differs depending on your provider and your insurance plan. It’s important to understand what type of services are covered in your policy for medical versus routine eye exams. Our patient care coordinators are always here to help answer any questions you may have.
Routine Vision Discount Plans
Vision discount plans are not true insurance, but are designed to help with the cost of a routine eye exam when there are no specific health complaints. If your eye exam only involves updating your glasses or contact lens prescription and there are no additional concerns or symptoms, we will bill your vision discount plan for the exam.
Medical Insurance for Additional Concerns
If you have any symptoms or issues, such as dryness, allergies, diabetes, or blurred vision not correctable with a refraction, these are considered medical concerns. In these cases, the doctor is required to bill your medical insurance for the exam. This is because your medical insurance covers the diagnosis and treatment of specific eye conditions beyond routine care.
